Today, July 19, 2020, churches and mosques have reopened after more than four months since they were closed to prevent the spread of Covid-19 pandemic. This decision was taken at the last meeting of the Council of Ministers which took place on July 15, 2020. To reopen the churches must meet the conditions of hygiene imposed by the Ministry of Health. Thus, only the churches which have been visited by local authorities and show that they meet these conditions have received the reopening authorization letter. On the first day, several churches had not been able to complete preparations for reopening.
Among the four chapels of my parish (Butansinda) for example, only one (Rwoga) has received authorization. So we are struggling so that the other chapels will also reopen. We thank God who accepted this churches reopening. We also thank the Government of Rwanda for its efforts in combating the spread of Covid-19 pandemic and the good collaboration with the churches.
