EPISCOPAL VISIT TO GASHARU PARISH

Today, April 16, 2023, the Bishop of the Anglican Church of Rwanda, Shyogwe Diocese, the Rt. Rev. Dr Jered KALIMBA visited Gasharu Parish, Shyogwe Archdeaconry (located in Gasharu Village, Remera Cell, Nyamabuye Sector, Muhanga District, Southern Province).

Img 79He was welcomed by Christians who had come from different corners of Gasharu Parish and other parishes of Shyogwe Diocese, Pastors, and local political leaders.

The bishop’s message was based on Exodus 12:12-14: On that same night I will pass through Egypt and strike down every firstborn of both people and animals, and I will bring judgment on all the gods of Egypt. I am the Lord. The blood will be a sign for you on the houses where you are, and when I see the blood, I will pass over you. No destructive plague will touch you when I strike Egypt.  This is a day you are to commemorate; for the generations to come you shall celebrate it as a festival to the Lord-a lasting ordinance. Based on this passage, Bishop Jered encouraged believers to have hope in Jesus-Christ, because He defeated the death that used to scare us when he rose. That is the meaning of the Easter we celebrated last Sunday. He also reminded them the diocesan annual theme in terms of evangelism: "It is more blessed to give than to receive". (Acts 20:35) Jesus gave us a great example when he agreed to give his life for us to be saved from eternal death. So, we should imitate him by helping the church and our fellows.Img 77

Christians of Gasharu were delighted by the bishop’s visit to their parish and the presence of various religious leaders. Note also that, today 34 people have confirmed. Congratulations to them! God bless you all!
