Hanika Archdeaconry has the honour and pleasure to release the report summarizing the main activities accomplished in 2022. The year 2022 has been almost favourable for us, compared to the previous two years (2020 and 2021). During the year 2022 the situation of Covid-19 has gradually improved. At the time of writing this report, 30 out of 38 churches in our archdeaconry have been opened.
Compared to the situation of the previous year when only 22 churches were open, the present situation is promising. Even though 78% of our churches have been reopened, it should be noted that we still have a big step to take. We still have considerable work to do for the remaining churches to reopen. What complicates the situation is that even if we say "churches" they are indeed "parcels"! Truly, we have chapels that before the Covid-19 were held in small poorly built houses. Now these houses are completely demolished and we have to restart almost from nothing to build sanctuaries that meet the Government's requirements. This indicates that during the year 2023, we are called to work tirelessly!
That being so, it is important to note that this report provides in part a portrait of the efforts, achievements and love that the Archdeacon and Parish Leaders bring to our Archdeaconry. The report includes two main parts: the general presentation of EAR, Shyogwe Diocese and Hanika Archdeaconry, and the activities carried out by the Archdean’s Office and each of our parishes in 2022. We invite you to read it with interest and if possible, send us your comments to improve what we do.
To conclude, we would like to express my thankfulness to God for his protection and to everyone who contributed directly or indirectly to the realization of the activities related to in the report. We especially thank the Bishop and the Diocesan Central Office team who supported us in so many ways. May all those who have participated in one way or another in carrying out the activities described in the report find here our sincere thanks!
